Maggie Dean Evans-Black

— Maggie Dean Evans-Black , 79, of Athens passed away Monday, March 4, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital. Mrs. Black was born July 10, 1933, in Limestone County to Clayton Haney and Bertha Webb Haney.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery with Dusty McLemore officiating.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Black was a member of Lindsay Lane Baptist Church. She received her master’s degree from Athens College, and retired after teaching more than 30 years  in Limestone County schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Black; her parents, Clayton and Bertha Haney; and a brother, James “Buddy” Haney.

Survivors include three sons, Jesse Price Evans III and wife Dawn of Birmingham, Clayton Webb “Buzz” Evans and wife Debbie of Elkmont,  and Boyd Haney Evans of Ardmore; four grandchildren, Jesse Price Evans IV and Martin Whitfield Evans, both of Birmingham, Clayton Maxwell Evans “Max” and wife Katie of Pelham, and Bonnie Baker Evans and fiancé Joe Pierce of Auburn; one great-grandchild, Caden James Evans of Pelham; brother, Clayton “Bink” Haney of Elkmont; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Don Lauderdale, Michael Haney, Max Evans, Bro. Steve Hargrove, Mike Haney and Clayton Haney III.
