Wilma Curtis

— Wilma Jane Nafe Curtis, 87, of Athens passed away Monday, June 11, 2012, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

Mrs. Curtis was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Summertown, Tenn., to Rollie Burton Nafe and Monnie Edith Nafe Leland. She was a homemaker and faithful member of Eastside Church of Christ for 58 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, affectionately known as Nana. Her passions in life were worshipping God, cooking, singing and gardening.

Visitation will be from 2-4:45 p.m. Thursday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. The   service will follow at 5 p.m. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Curtis was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin Alan Curtis; and brother, Raymond L. Nafe. 

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Benjamin F. Curtis; sons, Ronald W. Curtis of Athens, Joe N. Curtis and wife Vicki of Athens; daughter, Diane C. Wildenstein and husband Hank of Salem; brother, Gene Nafe and wife Joyce of Rogersville; grandsons, Phillip Curtis and wife Jana Curtis of Elba, Jonathan Curtis and wife Debbie of Birmingham; granddaughters, Laura Curtis of Nashville, Leah Pierce and husband Kirk of Athens, Maria Franchowiak and husband Jamie of Madison, Amanda Hobbs and husband Jessie of Elkmont, and Johanna Curtis of Alexandria, Va. She had 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Special caregivers are Rosa Isbell Bozarth, Kimberly Henderson and Rachel Webb.

Pallbearers will be: grandsons, Jonathan Curtis and Phillip Curtis; nephews, Alex Nafe, Kenneth Nafe and Tony Nafe; and great-grandson, Tyler Curtis.
