Ed Tarpley

— Ed Tarpley, 74, of Athens passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Limestone Health Facility. Mr. Tarpley was born Oct. 27, 1937, in Limestone County to Jack Davis Tarpley and Annie Mae Guthrie Tarpley.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Mike Westmoreland and Tim Keenum officiating.

Visitation is from noon until 1:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Tarpley was a member of Madison Street Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Annie Mae Tarpley; wife, Shirley Johnson Tarpley; daughter, Sabrina Tarpley; two sisters, Dorothy Webster and Shirley Dildine.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Tarpley and wife Ellen of Athens and Larry Tarpley and wife Deanna of Bradenton, Fla.; two daughters, Selina Greene and husband Greg, and Sherry Sandlin, all of Athens; 13 grandchildren, Summer Tarpley, Angie Test and husband Adam, Daniel Tarpley, Samuel Tarpley, Sabrina Strain and husband Cordy, Coty Greene and wife Julia, Nick Sandlin, Grant Sandlin, Justin Tarpley, Jake Tarpley, Brandon Tarpley, Amanda Tarpley and Mallory Tarpley; four great-grandchildren, Kayla McNatt, Jaxsen Thornton, Sean Lindsey and Hadley Stain.

Pallbearers are Nick Sandlin, Coty Greene, Grant Sandlin, Jake Tarpley, Justin Tarpley, Samuel Tarpley, Daniel Tarpley and Brandon Tarpley.
