June Hillis Morrish, born June 1, 1919, of Huntsville passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012.
Mrs. Morrish was preceded in death by her parents, Culver M. Hillis and Mary Redus Hillis of Athens and Atlanta; husband, William R. Morrish; and granddaughter, Suzanne Fenton of California.
June participated in numerous community activities and organizations including membership in Faith Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, The Judge David Campbell chapter Daughters of the American Colonists, Twickenham Town chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Col. Walter Aston chapter Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Sons and Daughters of the Colonial and Antebellum Bench and Bar, First Families of Alabama (the Redus family was a pioneer family of Athens), the Limestone County Historical Society, The Society of Indiana Pioneers, Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 237 and the Ladies Auxiliary Military Order of the Purple Heart chapter 2201.
Survivors include her daughter, Marcella Saavedra and husband John of Huntsville; granddaughter, Lisa C. Liggett; great-grandsons, Alexzander Bennett of Huntsville and Daniel R. Fenton of California.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until noon Thursday at Valhalla Funeral Home in Huntsville with the service to follow at noon with the Rev. Frank Boyles of Faith Presbyterian Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
