Mary Beasley

— The funeral service for Mary Maylene Harris Beasley, 72, of Decatur, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shelton Funeral Home in Decatur with the Rev. Dr. Scotty Hogan and Jackie Burney officiating.

The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. A private graveside service and interment will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Beasley, who died Monday, May 7, 2012, at home, was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Colbert County, to S. E. Harris and Lyda Mae Witt Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Ronald Harris. Mrs. Beasley passed away peacefully at home following a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis.

She was a mother to two loving sons and grandmother to four beautiful children. She will be remembered for her infectious and inspirational personality by all who knew her. Mrs. Beasley was employed for many years at Cricket by the Creek in Decatur.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John L. “Jack” Beasley Jr.; two sons, Ronald Beasley and wife Penne, and Michael Beasley and wife Karen, all of Decatur; and four grandchildren, Spencer Beasley, Maggie Beasley, Keller Beasley and Logan Beasley.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Johnson, Barbara Burney, Lisa Jones, Gladys Carlisle and Earlene Robinson for their devoted love and care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Westmeade Baptist Church or to the charity of your choice.
