The funeral for James Jay Stark, 75, of Athens will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Spry Funeral Home with Bud White officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Stark died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Huntsville Hospital.
James Stark was born Jan. 31, 1937, in Lauderdale County. He retired as a security guard at Redstone Arsenal, and was an avid Alabama fan. Mr. Stark was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Athens. He was a friend to everyone he met, and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.
James Stark was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Stella Stark; sisters, Edith Ridgeway and Louise Thacker; and nephew, Donnie Ridgeway.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Stark of Athens; sons, Tim Stark and wife Judy of Athens, and Anthony Stark of New Hope; daughters, Natalie Stark, Gail Thornton and husband Glenn, Andrea Stark Martin and husband Keith, all of Athens; grandchildren, Brandi Griffin and husband Brad, Allison Stark, Ashton Kennedy, April Stark, Amber Stark, Dylan Stark, Michael Stark and Courtney Stark; great-grandchildren, Lexi Griffin, Braxton Griffin and Jasper Griffin; nephews, Ronnie Ridgeway and Ricky Ridgeway; and niece, Debra Kelley.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Ridgeway, Justin Ridgeway, Mike Kelley, John Howard, Royce Stark and Billy Abernathy. Honorary pallbearers are the grandchildren.
