Betty Pryor

— Betty Lamb Pryor, wife of Luke Pryor of Tanner, and daughter of Clement Diemer Lamb and Lila Motlow Lamb of Fayetteville, Tenn., died April 18, 2012, at home.

A gracious Southern lady, she was born April 30, 1924, in Fayetteville. She graduated from Ward Belmont in Nashville, Tenn., and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with a degree in English.

She was the devoted wife of Luke Pryor for 57 years. They shared a love of flying and she was a licensed pilot belonging to Flying Farmers of America and AOPA. She was a person with great strength of character and faith and love for her family and friends. She had a generous spirit for all and reached out to those in need.

She enjoyed all aspects of the arts, performing for Little Theatre productions, gardening, dancing, music and sports, having played college basketball for UNC.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Decatur, Colonial Dames of America, the Garden Club of Decatur, and the Junior Service League of Decatur.

She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luke Pryor; brother, Diemer Lamb; and nephew Diemer Lamb.

She is survived by her five children, Luke Pryor of Tanner, Lila Pryor Frank of Huntsville, Patton Pryor Davis (Lucian) of Nashville, Schuyler Harris Pryor (Jan) of Savannah, Ga. and Richard Diemer Pryor of Tanner; grandchildren, Grady Frank, Luke Davis, Jean Davis Brosnan, Peyton and Lila Davis, Lou, Katie, Schuyler and Ida Pryor; great-grandchildren, Luke, Ben and Sophia Brosnan; sister-in-law, Sue Cooper of Decatur; and niece, Susan Lamb of Garden Grove, Calif.

A special thank you to the Blanche Jones Sunday school class for their continual prayers and support, her caregivers for their love and devotion, and her faithful friends.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the family home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Decatur with visitation starting at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
