Euffie Gordon Strain

— Euffie Gordon Strain, 87, passed away at her daughter’s home on Saturday Sept. 1, 2012.

Mrs. Strain was born Aug. 27, 1925 in Belle Mina to Jim and Sallie Gordon. She was a graduate of Tanner High School, homemaker and member of Central Church of Christ.

She loved her family with all her heart and soul. Mrs. Strain enjoyed the outdoors, watching Wheel of Fortune and solving Word Search Puzzles.

Mrs. Strain is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Hugh Vernon Strain, her parents, Jim and Sallie Gordon, brothers, W.O. Gordon and Monroe Gordon, and sister Christine Bowers.

She is survived by her twin sister, Effie Gordon, her children, son Tommy Strain and daughter Sue Strain Solomon, all of Athens, and her grandchildren, Tom V. Strain Jr. and wife Tara, Brandi Hillard Ball and husband Heath, Nick Strain and wife Ruth, Jay Solomon and wife Marla, Cordy Strain and wife Sabrina. Great-grandchildren, Jessica Strain, Briana Shay Ball, Morgan Strain, Savannah Solomon, Jake Strain, Sallie Ball, Haze Solomon, Emily Strain, Hadley Strain, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held Tuesday Sept. 4, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Heath Ball officiating.  Visitation was from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Tom V Strain Jr., Nick Strain, Jay Solomon, Cordy Strain and Lonnie Solomon. Honorary Pallbearers were Jake Strain and Haze Solomon.
