The graveside service for Gene “Doc” Goode, 75, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lentzville Cemetery with Doug Colwell officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing. No visitation is planned.
Mr. Goode died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at Limestone Health Facility.
Gene Goode was born March 10, 1937, in Limestone County to James W. and Mary Lois Goode. He was a retired carpenter and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Barnes Goode; daughters, Brenda Kretchmar and Regina Stevenson; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include daughters, Jan Price and Lori Whitt, both of Ardmore, and Gayla Amerson of Athens; sons, Jessie Randall Barnes of Snead, Ray Barnes of Tanner, Jerrold Barnes and Darryl Barnes, both of Athens; brothers, Orvil J. Goode and Jerry Goode, both of Athens; sisters, Mary Evelyn Cooley of Athens and Linda Bird of Scottsboro; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
