The funeral service for Mr. Alfred S. Westlake Jr., 81, of Athens, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Bro. Phil Russell officiating. Burial will be in John C. Terry Cemetery in Courtland.
Visitation will be from 1:30-2:15 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Westlake was born Feb. 13, 1931, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Alfred Westlake Sr. and Elaine Fields Westlake. He lived in Syracuse, N.Y., until joining the military. He served in Germany and France. He worked for General Electric as a contractor on the space program in Arizona, Florida, Alabama, Texas, California and Washington, D.C. He retired in 1989 with 42 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Barbara Andrews.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Grace Terry Westlake; son, Thomas Westlake; daughters, Linda Gray and Dorothy Fernadez and husband Rick; stepson, Charles Blackwood; stepdaughter, Pat Dobbs and husband Tom; four grandchildren, Christopher Duncan, Justin Gray, Ricky Fernadez and Ryan Fernadez; and two step-grandchildren, Michael Dobbs and Mitchell Dobbs.
Pallbearers are grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amedisys Hospice of Florence.
