Jackie Milton Pope Sr., 66, of Athens passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Pope was born Nov. 24, 1946, in Arkansas to Herman Wilson Pope and Martha Preston Pope.
The funeral for Mr. Pope will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at First United Pentecostal Church of Tanner. Viewing hours are from 1-2 p.m Sunday at the church. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Ivey and the Rev. Alan Gandy officiating.
Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
Jackie Pope Sr. was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church on U.S. 31 South in Tanner for the past three years.
Jackie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Pollard Pope; sons, Jackie Pope Jr. of Meridianville, David Pope and Kevin Pope, both of Athens; grandchild, Steven Walker Pope; and sister, Zandra Bush of Athens.
Pallbearers are Dwight Russell, Jack Russell, Jason Russell, Tony Russell, Greg Russell and Travis Holloway Jr.
