Bertie Allene Dupree Kennemer was born Sept. 23, 1925, and is a native of Capshaw and lived in Athens. In recent years, she has been a resident of Mobile. Mrs. Kennemer passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, in Mobile.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Percy Dupree and Leona Vasser Dupree. Her siblings Bessie Louise Dupree, Bruce Dupree, George Dupree, Mary Willie Dupree Stewart, Lillie Lucille Dupree Landers, Margie Lee Dupree Key, Martha Ray Dupree Copeland and Robert Dupree Jr., all preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bertie Allene Dupree Kennemer is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ottis Kennemer, who resides in Mobile. She is survived by her son, Robert Don Kennemer and wife LeJean; five grandchildren, William Wesley Kennemer and wife Amy, Benjamin Christopher Kennemer and wife Erin, Michael Adam Kennemer, Stephanie Michelle Hawk, William Blain Drawdy and wife Cristina; and five great-grandchildren, Leigh Kennemer, Connor Drawdy, Leighton Drawdy, Zachary Hawk and McKenzie Hawk. Mrs. Kennemer is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
She was a long-time member of Athens First Baptist Church.
Visitation for family and friends will be in Limestone Chapel from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, April 28. There will be services at 11 a.m. at the gravesite in Athens City Cemetery.
Bertie Allene Dupree Kennemer — wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother — dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
