The graveside service for James Earl King, 83, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence with Joe Teal officiating. Visitation is from 4-6 p.m. today at Spry Funeral Home in Athens.
Mr. King died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at E.C.M. Hospital in Florence.
James Earl King was born Dec. 9, 1928, in Lauderdale County. He was the owner of Earl King’s Department Store in Athens for 48 years. Mr. King was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Effie King; wife, Jane Collier King; and brothers, Herschel King and Stanley King.
Survivors include his sisters, Austelene King McGee of Boaz and Edna King Holley of Red Bay; nieces and nephews.
