— The graveside service for Madison E. Woodfin Jr., 88, of Athens will be at noon today at Limestone Memorial Gardens with Donnie Rogers officiating.

Visitation will be from 10-11:45 a.m. today McConnell Funeral Home.

Mr. Woodfin passed on, May 2, 2012, at Athens Rehabilitation Center and SeniorCare.

Madison Woodfin was born April 13, 1924, to Madison Erskine Woodfin Sr. and Bertha Leona Griggs Woodfin in Limestone County. Mr. Woodfin was an avid Alabama football fan. “Roll Tide” was his favorite saying. He was a World War II veteran, and he worked a lifetime in security services. He was a member of South Side Church of Christ.

Mr. Woodfin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 41 years, Julie Woodfin; seven brothers, BW. Woodfin, Thomas Woodfin, Gordon Miller, Clyde Miller, Loyd Miller, Buford Miller and Marvin Miller; four sisters, Leona Choran, lzona Gilliam, Lillie Muse and Josephine Hardiman.

Mr. Woodfin is survived by his sons, all of Athens, Billy Woodfin, Gary Woodfin and Mark Woodfin; one sister, Helen Woodfin Sammet of Athens; six grandchildren, Garth Woodfin of Bay Town, Texas, Elka Vinton of Athens, Jennifer Woodfin of Columbia, Tenn.; Michael Woodfin and Wendy Woodfin, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Rebecca Woodfin of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Pallbearers will be Barry Sammet, Daryl Sammet, Melvin Miller, Foster Miller, Paul Miller and Leon Miller.
