Margaret Gamble

— Margaret Frances Gobbell Gamble was born Aug. 24, 1944, and passed away Aug. 19, 2012, after a short illness. Her family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday at Elkins Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with Tommy Williams officiating.

Margaret was a Lauderdale County native and retired after 21 years of service with SunTrust Bank. She was a woman of many talents and varied interests. During her lifetime she had many hobbies including decorating, cooking and creating some of her own recipes, knitting, and refinishing furniture. She loved to read and was an oil and acrylic artist.

The cookbook she wrote, “Tasty Creations” was first published in 1994 and went into its second printing in 2011. It was her pride and joy.

She devoted her life to taking care of her loving husband, Philip Neal Gamble, son, Philip Neal II and daughter, Donna Leigh. She thoroughly enjoyed her family and being a homemaker.

Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Philip Neal Gamble Sr.; son, Philip Neal Gamble II of Muscle Shoals; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Tom Dean of Athens; brother, Bob Carroll Gobbell of Shell, Wyo.; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Tim Pringle of Maineville, Ohio; her special nieces and nephews Bobby, Nancy, Larry, Kerri and Evan; great nieces and nephews and her many special cousins.

Pallbearers will be Doug Butler, Mack Stanfield, Rex Gobbell, Doug Trousdale, Tommy Stanfield, Scott Butler, Bob Butler and Wayne Putman.
