Hollis Chandler

— Hollis Chandler, 86, of Rogersville died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at home.  He was a veteran of the United States Army who served in World War II. He owned and operated a local garage for more than 67 years and loved dirt track racing.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. today at Rogersville Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow immediately in the chapel with David O’Connell officiating. Burial will be in Wallace Cemetery with military honors. 

Pallbearers will be Jody Howard, Rusty Hudson, John Chandler, Floyd Glass, Jr., Bruce Springer and Donnie McCafferty. Honorary pallbearers are Aaron Glass, Ross Chandler and Michael Chandler.

Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by his parents, O.P. and Hattie Chandler; brothers, Marshal, J.C., Rewel and Lonner Chandler; sisters, Christine Glass, Donner Chandler, Alcidene Romine and Sybil Cosby. 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Chandler; sons, Mike H. Chandler and Ronnie L. Chandler; daughter, Sherry Wallace and husband Tommy; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Linda Phillips, Helen Phillips and Joyce Holley.
