Richard Lee Patterson

Richard Lee Patterson, 65, of Ardmore, Tenn., went to his Heavenly home Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, after a courageous, two-year battle with lung cancer.

Born Sunday, Dec. 1, 1946, in Coldwater, Tenn., he was the son of Woodrow Wilson Patterson and Alma Lucille Reyer Patterson. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Katie McConnell and Carlette Patterson.

Mr. Patterson grew up working in the cotton fields alongside his parents and brothers and sisters. After retiring from Delphi in 2006, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ann Marie Patterson of Ardmore, Tenn.; one son, Rickey Patterson and wife Jasmine of Butler, Ind.; two daughters, Tammy Lane and husband Fred of New Market, and Debbie Sims and husband David of Hartselle; six grandchildren, Kayla, Drake, Jonathan, Mary Grace, Elizabeth and Liam; three brothers, Leon Patterson and wife Rachel of Dellrose, Tenn, Ray Patterson and wife Martha of Athens, and Jimmy Patterson and wife Caroline of Elkton, Tenn.; and four sisters, Ann Lindsey and Dessie Linville, both of Fayetteville, Tenn, Wanda Dollar and husband Bobby of Taft, Tenn., and Brenda Howard and husband Billy of Lewisburg, Tenn.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, with the funeral to follow at 1 p.m. with Brother Billy Taylor officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Heath, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, Ind., 46202, or to www.rileykids.org.
