Ruby P. Dunnivant

The funeral for Ruby P. Dunnivant, 96, of Decatur will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ridout’s Brown Service Funeral Home in Decatur with Alan Walkins officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

She died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007.

She was born June 22, 1911, in Limestone County to Oscar Thomas and Kate Newly Thomas. She was a member of Grant Street Church of Christ.

She is survived by nine nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends and neighbors.

Pallbearers will be Ottie Akers, Glenn Holmes, Damon Ligon, J.B. Ligon, Michael Sebren and John Callaway.

Instead of flowers, donations may be made to Piedmont Chapter of Hospice in Charlotte, Va.



Joseph Andrew Shelton

The funeral for Joseph Andrew “Bud” Shelton, 92, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Robert Fudge officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Shelton died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at Huntsville Hospital.

He retired from Redstone Arsenal after 25 years of service. He was a lifelong resident of Limestone County and a member of Ephesus Church of Christ.

He is survived by one daughter, Peggy Wright and husband Tom of Athens; one great-granddaughter, Chenegua Clayton and husband Brett of Muscle Shoals; and one special nephew, Bill Griffin and wife Ann of Athens.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Shelton; and one son, Charles Shelton.

Pallbearers will be Brett Clayton, Bill Griffin, Rick Holmes, Thomas Wales, Gene Light and Lynn Dever.
