The News-Courier will publish, free of charge, death notices including the name, age and city of residence of the deceased, date and place of death, and time and place of funeral services and visitation.

Family members now may express themselves in a eulogy, list survivors and give detailed biographical information about the deceased in a paid obituary. The News-Courier will accept these paid items from the family, funeral directors, or other individuals. Paid obituaries may include a photo at no extra charge.

If a published obituary contains an error, The News-Courier will reprint a corrected obituary at no charge, provided the error was ours. The News-Courier does not issue refunds on obituary announcements.

Vicky Louise Hardy Cockrell

The funeral for Vicky Louise Hardy Cockrell, 53, of Athens, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Kasey Harbin and Kevin Harbin officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyhill Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cockrell died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006 at home.

She was born March 20, 1952, in Limestone County to Buford Herman Hardy and Louise Holmes. She was a member of Market Street Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Limestone County.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Hardy; two brothers, Wayne Hardy and Danny Hardy; and a sister, Debra Hardy.

She is survived by her husband, Danny Cockrell; her mother, Louise Hardy of Athens; two brothers, Gilbert Hardy and Benton Hardy, both of Athens; three sisters, Joyce Harbin, Reba Adams and Sherry Kay Hardy, all of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Keith Cockrell, Marty Adams, Kim Harbin, Kenneth Harbin, Keith Harbin and Greg Lamb.



Jerry Marshal Eastup

A graveside service for Jerry Marshal Eastup, 24, of Athens, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Roselawn Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Eastup died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, at home.

He attended New Life Assembly Church.

He is survived by his wife, April Eastup of Killen; a daughter, Christina Eastup of Killen; a step-daughter, Breauna Goodloe of Killen; his father, Jerry Eastup of Athens; his mother, Debra Knight of Phoenix, Ariz.; three brothers, Jared Eastup of Athens, Jonathon Eastup of Huntsville, and Sean Belprez of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Marie Carter of Haworth, Okla., and Melissa Adams of Athens.



Lawrence Pike

The funeral for Lawrence Pike, 89, of Clarkston, Mich., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Coats Funeral Home in Waterford, Mich. Burial will be in Christian Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Pike died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006.

He was born March 27, 1916, in Limestone County.

He was preceded in death by a son, Max E. Pike; and a brother, Clayton Pike.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Pike; one son, Lawrence M. Pike; one daughter, Mary Render and her husband Harvey; siblings, Pauline Hodges, Dever Hall, Garton Pike and Lorene Hardiman; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
