Athens Bible School’s quest to defend the Class 1A state softball title began Monday with the Class 1A, Area 14 tournament.
The Lady Trojans began the day with a 15-0 win over Valley Head.
Chelsea Burgess and Allie McCurry both went 1-for-5 with a single. Haley Chittam was 3-for-5 with three singles. Brook Chittam was 3-for-5 with a triple and two singles. Natalie Anderson went 2-for-4 with an RBI triple. Christina Ivey went 1-for-3 with a single. Stefanie McClure was 3-for-4 with two singles and a double. CeCi Ivey went 1-for-4 with a single.
In the second game of the day, Athens Bible defeated Skyline 11-0, advancing in the winners’ bracket.
Burgess went 3-for-4 with three singles. Haley Chittam was 2-for-4 with an RBI triple and a single. McCurry was 1-for-4 with a single. Brooke Chittam and Anderson both were 1-for-4 with a single and RBI. Courtney Etheredge, Christina Ivey and McClure all went 1-for-3 with a single. Abby Malone was 2-for-3 with two singles.
Andrea George got both wins for the Lady Trojans.
