Woman charged with illegally obtaining prescriptions

— A woman who allegedly forged prescriptions to obtain medication was arrested by Athens Police Thursday.

According to a press release from the department, 41-year-old Teresa Anton of 19199 Easter Ferry Road, Athens, had forged prescriptions for Hydrocodone and Carisoprodo. She allegedly committed the offenses between April and November.

She was charged Thursday with seven counts of obtaining controlled substances by fraud. After being booked at the Athens Police Department, she was transferred to the Limestone County Jail.

Anton was released Thursday on $35,000 bond.
