Work on Sanderfer Road next week will force a temporary closure, according to Athens officials.
The road will be closed from Jefferson Street to Minuteman Drive on Monday from 8:05 a.m. until dark. Vehicles will not be allowed to cross the railroad tracks. School traffic will need to utilize alternate routes in the afternoon.
Weather permitting, the Street Department will conduct paving work during the week of Dec. 17 in the following areas:
• Irvin Street from Fifth Avenue to Pryor Street.
• First Avenue from Sanders Street to Irvin Street.
• The alley north of First Avenue between Irvin Street and Sanders Street.
• Second Avenue between Irvin Street and Houston Street.
