The Limestone County District Attorney’s Office will host its second-annual Community Needs Drive during the annual 2012 Athens Christmas Parade on Dec. 6.
District Attorney Brian Jones said he and his staff members will be collecting canned foods for Limestone County Churches Involved; new blankets, warm hats and gloves for children and adults for the Limestone County Department of Human Resources; and socks for children of all ages, books for children of all ages; coloring books and crayons for children, flashcards and other learning activities for children of all ages for the Limestone County Family Resource Center.
“In 2011, we had a tremendous outpouring of support and filled our float to capacity,” said Jones, who also plans to have a float in this year’s parade, which begins at 6 p.m. at Athens High School. “I want to personally thank each and every person who made our first Community Needs Drive a huge success. This year, with even more of our neighbors in need, I pray that we can build upon last year’s accomplishments and work together to benefit Limestone County.”
Residents may also donate by calling the district attorney’s office at 256-233-6416.
