Arrests made in fatal shooting of Toney man

— HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Police have arrested two people in the death of a man whose body was found in the woods Monday morning.

WAFF (http://bit.ly/13vgzEQ) reports Mercedes Lynea Douglas and Randle Earl Helwett have been charged with murder in the death of John Mark Allen, of Toney.

Police responded to a call for shots fired Saturday afternoon and found only blood in the parking lot where the shooting happened. Witnesses told police a white Cadillac left the scene shortly after the shooting and police Sunday found a car matching the description in a ditch.

Police called Allen's wife, who said the Cadillac was his and had been missing. The relationship between Allen, Hewlett and Douglas and the motive behind the shooting is unclear.

It is unclear if Douglas and Hewlett have lawyers.
