Most public offices in Athens, Limestone County and throughout Alabama will be closed Monday for the Labor Day holiday. The following area offices will be closed Monday:
• City of Athens
• Limestone County
• State of Alabama
• Athens City Schools
• Limestone County Schools
• Athens Sanitation Department: No change in garbage pickup because routes are normally run Tuesdays through Friday anyway
• Limestone County garbage collection: No change in pickup, though routes may be run at an earlier time due to the holiday
