Athens motorists should drive with caution beginning today in certain areas due to a road closing and the phasing out of some traffic lights.
Lucas Ferry Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Washington to West Hobbs streets to repair a drainage pipe.
The city is also preparing to phase out the traffic signals at the intersection of Pryor and Sanders streets, Fifth Avenue and Sanders Street and the intersection of Bryan and Madison streets. The stop signs are in place, and the city will turn the signals off and bag them Monday.
