EAST LIMESTONE —
The Limestone County Sheriff and his deputies were scouring eastern Limestone County Thursday afternoon looking for three men who robbed a pharmacy at gunpoint, stealing money and medication.
The incident occurred about 3:45 p.m. on Capshaw Road. The robbers — armed with one handgun and, possibly, an automatic weapon or machine gun — hit Joe’s Pharmacy at 27691 Capshaw, Sheriff Mike Blakely said. They stole more than $400 in cash, eight 1000-count bottles of Lortab and seven bottles of oxycontin, both narcotic painkillers, according emergency scanner traffic.
The men fled in a Thunderbird, possibly belonging to the pharmacist, which was later found in Foxridge Subdivision, about a mile down the road, Blakely confirmed.
A witnesses living in the 600 block of Foxwood Drive said three black men in their teens to early 20s ran through her yard, according to scanner traffic. Another witness said the men got into an early 1990s white mini van with a sliding side door — possibly a Ford or Chrysler — that was driven by a black man.
The three involved in the robbery were wearing ski masks and gloves, the sheriff said.
Three of the suspects were wearing dark or black clothing and one was wearing a white, long-sleeve T-shirt and black pants, according to scanner traffic.
Limestone authorities immediately notified Huntsville and Madison county law-enforcement agencies to assist while they continued to comb the area looking for the vehicle. Other investigators were speaking with witnesses.
Anyone with information about the robbery should call 911 or the Limestone County Sheriff's Department at 256-232-0111.
The men are considered armed and dangerous.
