Tucker leads Coffman in financial support

— Incumbent Limestone County License Commissioner Greg Tucker leads his opponent, surveyor Ronnie Coffman, in raising money for the Limestone County License Commissioner race.

Tucker’s contributors include state and county employees. Coffman’s contributors include many individual supporters and some former candidates for local offices.

Tucker raised at least $24,175 in contributions plus added $9,000 of his own money between December 2011 and October, according to campaign-finance reports filed in the Limestone County Probate Judge Office in Athens.

Among Tucker’s contributors, so far, are:

Individuals: Kendell Phillips, $250; Chad Davis, $250; Charles Page Jr., $300; Michael Blakely, $200; Jimmy Leach, $50; Addie Wilson, $1,040; Michael Davis, $1,000; Ron Birdwell, $370 for rent; Ron and Cindy Birdwell, $1,500; Randal and Melinda Mashburn,  $300; Michael Davis, $200; Larry and Ruth Lewis, $700; Robbie Tucker, $460; Michael Blakely, $100; Christopher Looney, $300; David E. Ruf Farms LLC, $300; Rosemary Moore, $110; Franklin and Virginia Coffield, $240; Steve Hobbs, $200; Dan Totten, Athens, $500; and Mickey Haddock, $250.

Businesses: Davis & Cole LLP of Athens, $500.

Political Action Committees: Limestone County Democratic Executive Committee, $1,400;

In-kind contributions: Jimmy and Kim Leach, $170 in advertising; and Jon Collins, $250 in equipment;

Loans to self: Greg Tucker, $9,000; 

Cash: $13,235.

Ending balance on Oct. 31: $3,973 after paying for advertising, marketing, dinner events, signs, helium tank, etc.

Friends of Ronnie Coffman, a Republican, raised at least $8,040 in contributions, plus Coffman added $988 of his own money between June and October, records show. Among Coffman’s contributors, so far, are:
