MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The legislative session that began in February wraps up Wednesday, with plenty for the legislators to do on their final meeting day in Montgomery.
The state education budget and the General Fund budget are still pending. The House and Senate will also see if they can agree on changes to Alabama’s immigration law. Legislation to raise court fees to help fund the state judicial system is pending in the Senate.
The Legislature may end the 2012 regular session only a few hours before beginning a special session. Legislative leaders have asked the governor to call a special session starting Thursday to draw new legislative districts. Redistricting is required after each census.
