The Limestone County Commission unanimously approved Underwood & Associates of Decatur as the project architect to design and handle construction of two prefabricated metal buildings on the north end of the county-owned L&S property on North Jefferson Street.
The buildings will be used to permanently house Community Corrections, Pardons and Paroles and to store equipment and trailers for the county maintenance department and Emergency Management Agency.
The final drawings will take four to six weeks, and lead architect Fred Underwood plans to have preliminary drawings ready to present to the commission during the March 7 regular meeting.
Last fall, Underwood & Associates was allotted $4,500 to provide drawings for the renovation of the vacant Fred’s building on the north end of the seven-acre L&S property but the commission rejected construction bids for the Fred’s project because the bids exceeded the estimated $300,000 budget.
