MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Retired Alabama Bureau of Investigation agent Mike Ball said officers from the state’s numerous law enforcement agencies didn’t have many problems working together in the field, but there were too many squabbles at the programs’ headquarters in Montgomery.
Ball, now a state representative from Madison, said the biggest benefit of a new law consolidating state law-enforcement agencies will be management speaking with one voice instead of many voices having turf wars.
“As a retired state trooper, oftentimes my colleagues and I would see ways that our agency and partnering agencies could be run more efficiently and effectively,” Ball said. “After much study and thorough investigation, this legislation will finally streamline Alabama’s law enforcement efforts while conserving taxpayer dollars and maximizing efficiency.”
