Two sticking points were resolved Wednesday in the trial of an Athens man accused of bringing a loaded shotgun to Athens High School in 2010.
• How quickly did Athens Police officers arrive at the scene of the alleged terrorist threat by an angry parent?
• Who owns the main road leading into the high school?
The questions seemed to be answered Wednesday morning in Limestone County Circuit Court in the trial of Thomas Smoak. He is accused of making a terrorist threat and bringing a deadly weapon onto school property on May 25, 2010, the last day of school at AHS before summer break. He was allegedly angry that his son was suspended for five days for uttering a racial slur toward a fellow student.
