Second teen arrested in store burglary

A second teenager has been arrested and charged with third-degree burglary in connection with a break-in at Jeff’s Mini Mart on Alabama 99, an official said.

The 15-year-boy from Lester, whose name was withheld because he is a juvenile, was released to the custody of his parents after his arrest, said Limestone County Sheriff’s Lt. Brad Curnutt.

A 15-year-old Elkmont boy was charged Monday with third-degree burglary and unauthorized use of a vehicle, for allegedly taking his parents’ car with out permission and burglarizing Jeff’s Mini Mart, records show.

The two are accused of breaking into the store at 18461 Alabama 99 sometime Friday or Saturday and stealing jewelry, cigarettes, cigars and baseballs caps valued at $2,000, records show.

Authorities recovered some of the stolen items, Curnutt said.
