Inmate Joshua Hamer, who had been wanted by the Alabama Department of Corrections after he walked off from the Decatur Community Based Facility, was recaptured Tuesday afternoon in Ardmore, Tenn.
Hamer, who is being held by the Giles County, Tenn., Sheriff’s Department, refuses to sign a waiver to return to Alabama. He is currently in the Giles County Jail.
At approximately 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, a bed count revealed that Hamer was missing from the Decatur facility.
An immediate search of the area was conducted and all local law enforcement authorities were notified and Hamer was placed on escape.
Hamer was serving time for unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle and second-degree theft of property.
