A driver stopped for driving without headlights Wednesday was arrested along with his passenger after an Athens police officer found materials for making methamphetamine, an official said.
Officer Jonathan Caldwell stopped a car driven by Larry Earl Hodges, Jr., 30, 21240 Myrtlewood Drive in Athens about 6:40 p.m. at U.S. 31 and Hobbs Street, said Capt. Marty Bruce.
The man did not have a valid driver’s license, Bruce said.
While impounding the car, Caldwell found items used to manufacture crystal methamphetamine in the vehicle as well as on passenger Steven M. Jackson, 29, of 105 Buford Hughey Road in Dellrose, Tenn., Bruce said.
Jackson was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance and giving a false name to a law-enforcement officer, records show.
Hodges was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly having two syringes in his socks, Bruce said.
The two men were transferred to the Limestone County Jail.
