Scientists work with students

News Courier/Kim Rynders

From left, Athens High students Cady Hobson, Leslie Harvey, Lacey Kennedy and Carley Hovell receive information on enzyme structure and function from Bobo Zahorchak, the BioTrain administrator with HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. HudsonAlpha scientists provided the information to 21 college-bound AHS students Tuesday in the school’s chemistry laboratory. They also worked with advanced- placement teachers in biology and chemistry — Marla Dean, Jacquelyn Allen and Michael May. Dean said cuts in the state education budget have left teachers looking for free ways to further education.
