Limestone group to attend PACT board meeting

Members of the Athens-Limestone chapter of Save Alabama PACT are planning to caravan Wednesday to Montgomery to attend a meeting of the board of Alabama’s Prepaid Affordable College Tuition plan concerning plans to rescue it from financial trouble.

The meeting is at 1:30 p.m. in the state capitol auditorium.

Local members will meet in the parking lot of Murphy USA at Walmart at 7:30 a.m. The Limestone group will meet with the Decatur group at the Mallard Village parking lot near exit 334 off Interstate 65.

Anyone who plans to attend the meeting should call Limestone County PACT President Jerry Whitt at (256) 777-4049.

Limestone County PACT members will meet again at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10 to discuss the outcome of Wednesday’s board meeting. Members will meet at the Rodgers Center in First Presbyterian Church in downtown Athens.

Candidates for State Treasurer including George Wallace Jr., Jeremy Sherer and Charley Grimsley have been invited to Athens to speak.
