MADISON — Alabama state troopers have reported the second fatal accident in two days in Madison County.
Corey Renner, 17, of Hazel Green died following a 5:25 p.m. wreck at the intersection of McKee Road and Wall Triana Highway, according to a trooper press release issued Tuesday.
Renner was flown by Medflight helicopter to Huntsville Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 8 p.m., Trooper Curtis Summerville said.
Renner and a passenger, Samantha Young, 16, of Toney, were driving east on McKee in a 1999 Saturn when he went through a stop sign and struck a 2002 GMC driven by Kaleb Vandagriff, 27, of Toney and heading south on Wall Triana, Summerville said.
Young was transported to Huntsville Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. She was listed in fair condition Tuesday afternoon, a hospital representative said.
Vandagriff was not injured, according to the report.
Troopers believe all the victims were wearing seatbelts, Summerville said.
The crash is still under investigation by state troopers.
