Limestone County Probate Judge Mike Davis announced Friday that he plans to retire on May 1.
Davis, 61, said he sent a letter to Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb announcing his intentions. Following his retirement, a new probate judge will then be appointed by Gov. Robert Bentley.
Davis, a Democrat, was first elected in 1982.
