City and county leaders sat down with the Athens-Limestone Public Library Foundation fundraiser board Wednesday for an informational luncheon on where the new library project stands.
Fundraising consultant Debbie Joyner said the meeting was purely informational. No votes were cast and no decisions were made; the group was bringing the City Council and County Commission up to speed on financial figures and building plans.
Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks praised the commitment of the library group to pursue a project that has been questioned for its necessity. He said he felt the library is an important amenity as far as education and community are concerned.
