Athens Police responded Tuesday afternoon after a man said a woman stabbed him and was trying to run him down with her white sport utility vehicle as he fled on foot.
Police were called at 1:06 p.m. to 1300 Plainview Circle, which is located in west Athens. Rescue workers had to wait for police to find the victim, who was identified as Marcus Seay, and secure the scene before they could treat him.
Chief Floyd Johnson said Seay’s cut “was not life-threatening.” He declined to comment on what prompted the incident or if charges would be filed because police were still investigating at press time.
According to radio traffic on the emergency scanner, Seay may have fled to the Frazier Christian Methodist Episcopal Church on Hine Street to await help. However, an officer located him about 1:19 p.m. on Brownsferry Street at Plainview, according to the scanner.
At one point, officers had stopped a woman in a white SUV and were questioning her.
