— An Athens man accused of stealing copper wiring and tools from a local church has been formally charged with burglary in connection with the theft.
Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said Thursday officers arrested Morgan Rex Adcock, 25, of 18861 Alabama 99, on a grand jury warrant charging Adcock with third-degree burglary, a Class C felony.
Adcock is accused of breaking into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on West Market Street in February last year. Missing from the church were copper wiring, battery charges and tools, Johnson said.
Adcock was booked at the Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail.
He was initially charged last year in connection with the break-in, and a Limestone County grand jury recently indicted him on the same charge, meaning he will stand trial unless he pleads guilty to the charge.
