Today should be a picture-perfect fall day with sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s, but strong storms are expected overnight.
The National Weather Service in Huntsville issued a hazardous weather outlook for counties across North Alabama, including Limestone, ahead of an approaching cold front.
Widespread thunderstorms are expected overnight, and a few storms may become severe with damaging winds of 60 to 70 mph. The NWS said an isolated tornado may be possible, but primarily in northwest Alabama.
The storms are expected to reach the I-65 corridor between midnight and 2 a.m.
The primary threats, the NWS said, will be gusty winds, frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall.
The storms are expected to move to the northeast between 2 and 4 a.m. The rest of the week is expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the low-to-mid-70s and lows in the upper 40s.
