ATHENS —
A 62-year-old Athens man found with 3 pounds of marijuana, hallucinogenic mushrooms, marijuana oil, $24,000 in cash and 24 firearms is facing trafficking and other drug-related charges following a bust Tuesday afternoon.
Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said investigators from Athens Police Department and the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department searched the home of Mickey Dale Thorne, 62, of 15468 New Cut Road and seized 3.3 pounds of marijuana, four containers of psilocybin mushrooms, three bottles of marijuana oil, the cash and pistols, rifles and shotguns. Marijuana oil is typically smoked or added to food.
Thorne was charged with trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, records show. He remained in the Limestone County Jail Wednesday, with bail set at $6,000.
