Sex abuse victim a teenager

— An Athens man is facing charges of sexual abuse and sodomy for allegedly engaging in deviant sexual intercourse and sexual contact with a 15 year old, records show.

Alexander Justin Moore, 22, of 201 W. Sanderfer Road, was arrested Saturday by Athens Police Investigator Chris Slayton on one count of second-degree sodomy and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, Police Chief Floyd Johnson reported Monday.

Police were notified Saturday night of the alleged abuse, which occurred between May 12 and 15, the chief said.

The victim is a relative of Moore’s girlfriend, Johnson said.

The sodomy charge resulted from alleged deviant sexual intercourse, which Alabama law defines as “any act of sexual gratification between persons not married to each other involving the sex organs of one person and the mouth or anus of another.”

The sexual abuse charges stem from two other alleged incidents of sexual contact with the victim.

Moore was booked at the Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail, where bail is set at $35,000 on the three felony counts, records show.
