A tip from a Morgan County deputy and response by an Athens Police investigator led to the recovery of a stolen utility trailer Tuesday.
Morgan County Sheriff’s Deputy Demetrius Hightower stopped a black GMC Yukon pulling a trailer in Decatur and found, after running the tag number, it belonged to a resident on Mooresville Road in Athens, said Athens Police Lt. Floyd Johnson.
Morgan County authorities asked Athens Police to send a car to the registrant’s address and see if he was missing a $1,400 trailer. Investigator Katrina Flanagan responded and found that he was. After investigating, she arrested Michael Joseph Daniel, 29, of 137 McKinney Drive in Gurley, and Justin Lamar Moore, 22, of 1216 20th Ave. in Decatur, on charges of second-degree theft of property.
Both men were transferred to the Limestone County Jail.
