RAGLAND, Ala. (AP) — Police in an Alabama town are investigating the death of an 8-year-old girl who was found hanging from a rope attached to a tree.
The St. Clair County coroner describes the death of the girl at her family's home in Ragland as suspicious.
WBRC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/JoxPCe) that the girl was found Thursday hanging from the rope, which neighbors said used to be part of old tire swing.
Ragland Elementary School administrators say they plan to have grief counselors available Friday for classmates of the girl, who attended school there.
The girl's name has not been released, and few other details on the case were available Friday morning.
Ragland is about 45 miles northeast of Birmingham.
