High school students participating in the philanthropic TRAIL program led Cowart Elementary School fourth-graders in a routine called the ‘sassy squirrel’ Wednesday morning before performing a skit about philanthropy.
After the skit, each fourth-grade class was presented with a $100 grant for a project to be done at school or in the community.
TRAIL organizer Susan Wales said the Dekko Foundation gave the high schoolers a budget to be awarded as grants throughout the county and city school systems.
The group visited Athens Elementary earlier in the day and Elkmont later in the afternoon.
