An Athens man has been arrested on a litany of charges after officers found guns and ingredients used to make methamphetamine in his home.
Officers responded to a call of an intoxicated man running down Longview Street in Athens. When the arrived, they located Steven Morrissey, 28, of 309 Longview St., in the garage of his residence.
While talking with Morrissey, officers reportedly observed several ingredients used to make methamphetamine, a .380-caliber pistol, a .28-caliber pistol and a 12-gauge shotgun.
Officers then arrested Morrissey on charges of possession of methamphetamine, first-degree unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, second-degree unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
Morrissey was booked at the Athens Police Department and transported to the Limestone County Jail. His total bond on all charges has been set at $58,200.
In early August, Morrissey sustained — and survived — a gunshot wound to the head. He was discovered on the floor of his home with a .45-caliber handgun wound between his eyes.
Several days later, he was arrested on charges of first-degree unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance.
In October, a drug investigation began after Athens Police Investigator Mickey Hart and Limestone County Sheriff’s Investigator Josh McLaughlin were notified of a strong odor coming from Morrissey’s home.
A search of the residence netted a meth lab and 20 grams of methamphetamine, according to previously published reports. After an investigation, a warrant was obtained for Morrissey, and he was arrested last month on charges related to the investigation.
