A sex offender who had been living in the Town & Country Motel off U.S. 31 South in Athens was arrested for failing to notify authorities that he had moved elsewhere.
Carl Ellis King, 44, of 2414 U.S. 31 South, Apt. 109 in Athens is charged with failure of a sex offender to transfer and establish legal residence, records show.
On May 24, Athens Police Sgt. Greg Lott tried to find King to verify his residence, Capt. Floyd Johnson said Thursday. Lott was unable to locate King over the next several days, so he obtained an arrest warrant for him, Johnson said.
On Wednesday night, Huntsville Police arrested King and transferred him to the county line and into the custody of Athens Police.
He was booked at the Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail, where he will remain until his address is verified and approved by law-enforcement officials. He will still have to face the new charge.
